What is EFT:
Emotional freedom technique (EFT) is a great method to ease your panic/anxiety attack, or generally just a stressful situation by 15-20%. The method was developed by Gary Craig in the 90s. It's a technique that takes a bit of practice and needs to be maintained to stimulate the nervous system. But it's extremely effective and something I recommend as one of the first things to do if you're just starting out.
How does it feel to use EFT:
It can be overwhelming to get started because it requires focusing on, for example, the anxious feeling you are experiencing at a given moment. The feeling you are experiencing can typically be that you can't breathe, feel dizzy or lose your balance. When starting EFT, it requires a focus that targets the panic/anxiety attack you are going through, which can amplify the experience to the negative side. Hold on, you're not going to die, even though it can definitely feel like it! The good thing is that the longer and more focused you do EFT, the more good it does for your nervous system over time as your body remembers the relaxing effects of tapping.
How to reduce a panic/anxiety attack with EFT :
When you start, the goal is not to get rid of panic/anxiety attacks with EFT. The goal is to be able to use the technique to get the attack under control so you can be present, survive, recover and move to a better place. Maybe take the next step to something Box breathing. However, remember not to run away from panic/anxiety-inducing situations. We need to return to them, even if it's insanely uncomfortable. Otherwise we lose control over time. There are long videos online, as well as guides on how to do the exercises, which sometimes work more or less well. Therefore, I have chosen to link to a YouTube video that you can use while sitting on the couch, the toilet at work, or standing in the supermarket - however, I would recommend that you do it at home to start with.
