There were an extreme amount of articles and pages written by people who have obviously gone through some things in life and some who are obviously running a marketing machine.

There are several branches of meditation that are insanely effective in balancing body & mind. I couldn't get my head around other languages to start with and came across a free series in Danish created by Peter Bastian & Jon Bertelsen called Meditation, a tool for growthIt was somehow liberating to just be present and be guided through, but it still took me over 3 months to master the discipline of intensive training every day. I was also introduced to trying meditation with Jon Kabat-Zinn and came across a program he created in collaboration with MITwhich they call Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). It's a program that has an intensive focus on all areas of the body (BodyScan meditation), combined with YOGAwhich also has a crazy good effect on reducing stress, anxiety & depression etc.

I came across another branch of meditation called Qi Gong. It was an exciting form of meditation combined with YOGA. If you study the concept of Qi Gong, it is primarily about building & directing energy through the body while stretching.

How meditation techniques can help you

If you're suffering from stress, depression or just seriously down in the dumps, I recommend you start looking at Jon Kabat-Zinn and do this MBSR-programhe developed with MIT. It requires a lot of time, dedication and focus. Something you often have a lot of when you can't be present in other tasks.

You'll be brought from completely down in the basement to a stage where you can see yourself from the outside and start building yourself up again.

Afterwards, I would strongly recommend Qi Gong, which creates flow and flexibility in your body. Something you definitely don't have when you get hit by the stress train. That, combined with the mild YOGA part, is a rather unique experience.

How to get started with meditation

There are some wild monks on youtube who deliver some really good workouts. Everything from 5 min to full blown hour long sessions.

I would recommend starting by looking at MBSR meditation and running through the program from start to finish a few times:

Jon Kabat-Zinn

I would recommend starting by looking at these channels and experimenting with what works best for Qi gong:

Thich Man Tue – Qi gong

Qigong for Vitality

Shi Heng Yi Online

It takes a bit of effort to start meditation and there is no straight path to the right solution. It took me over 3 months to find my footing in this field. But it is one of the absolute best things in the world to be able to master & get better at.

/Christopher

Introduction One of the first things I was presented with when googling stress, PTSD, anxiety and depression was meditation.
